Pygmalion is a classic comedy by Bernard Shaw about a cockney flower girl,
Eliza Doolittle, who is transformed into a ‘lady’ by Professor Henry Higgins to win a bet. The witty, sharp dialogue underlines Shaw’s commentary about class in English society through these much-loved characters, who also include Colonel Pickering and the common dustman, Alfred Doolittle. This play provided the basis for the ever-popular musical, My Fair Lady.
