The Committee calls for expressions of interest from members wishing to be considered as Directors for our 2025 season.

To be eligible, you need have:
a)    previously directed at the Arts Theatre. 
b)    directed elsewhere and your work is known to the Committee. 
c)    completed the Arts Theatre’s ‘New Directors’ program.
(See the Directors Guidelines available on request from the Secretary.) 

 

If you qualify, you need to do the following:

Prior to submission please make a thoughtful and considered choice by assessing the suitability for Arts Theatre audiences.

1.    Complete the submission front sheet with details of each play submitted, indicating availability of rights and your preference for season placement. Click HERE to download the submission cover sheet.
2.    Each play requires an anonymous typed pitch sheet; which should include any casting, staging issues which may arise and possible solutions. (Submission sheets will need to be saved to allow information to be inputted.)
3.    Scripts must be submitted by way of legible unstapled photocopies (not the original) of one, two or three plays that you would like to direct. The script should be in a manila folder or bound in a bulldog clip with its pitch sheet attached.
4.    Send the plays to the theatre or hand them in at the Box Office marked the attention of

‘The Play Selection Committee’.
NB. The Theatre’s policy is that a play, have a minimum cast of four, although exceptional plays with less may be considered at Committee of Management’s discretion.

Applications close on 26th May 2024.

An acknowledgement of receipt of your application will be sent by email.

​

The Play Selection Committee will make a selection by 31st July 2024. 

All applicants will be notified of their status, in writing, after the August Committee meeting.
